The Belle II Collaboration has appointed the ETP postdoctoral researcher Dr. Giacomo De Pietro as the new Software Coordinator of the experiment. Having served as Deputy Coordinator for several years, Dr. De Pietro now assumes full responsibility for overseeing the software infrastructure used by Belle II.

Belle II, located at the SuperKEKB accelerator in Japan, is designed to study rare decays of B mesons, tau leptons, and other particles, offering precision tests of the Standard Model and sensitivity to new physics phenomena. A robust, efficient, and scalable software stack is essential to manage the large data volumes generated by the experiment and to enable precise physics analyses by hundreds of collaborators worldwide. As Software Coordinator, Dr. De Pietro will lead the development, maintenance, and evolution of the Belle II software ecosystem, known as basf2, coordinating efforts across simulation, reconstruction, data processing, and analysis frameworks.

The basf2 software is developed as an open-source project and is publicly available under the GNU Lesser General Public License at.
