Prof. Torben Ferber gives a lecture on dark matter at ZKM

The exhibition "Matter. Non-Matter. Anti-Matter." at the Center for Art and Media (ZKM) in Karlsruhe has concluded its run as of last weekend. As part of the EU project "Beyond Matter. Cultural Heritage on the Verge of Virtual Reality," the exhibition has made it possible to experience past exhibitions again through digital and spatial modeling techniques. At the end of the exhibition at ZKM, a diverse program of workshops, guided tours, lecture performances, and lectures explored various aspects of matter, material, and materiality. Prof. Ferber from ETP gave a talk on dark matter, one of the most mysterious forms of matter we know, while visitors to the ZKM foyer could experience particle collisions in virtual reality. The subsequent panel discussion, moderated by curator Lívia Nolasco-Rózsás and featuring ZKM director Alistair Hudson, Prof. Lioudmila Voropai (HfG), Julia Ihls (Bio Design Lab), Prof. Schwingeler (HAWK Hildesheim), and Jeremy Bailey, highlighted the commonalities and differences in the approach to the topic of matter between natural sciences and art. On Sunday, Ferber stepped into unfamiliar territory and led a group of visitors through the exhibition alongside Lívia Nolasco-Rózsás. After the ZKM run, a new edition of "Matter. Non-Matter. Anti-Matter." will be on view at the Centre Pompidou in Paris from Wednesday, May 17, 2023 to Monday, October 2, 2023.
